The Story of American Atlas Locksmith
Atlas Locksmith was founded by a United States Navy Veteran, which has been serving the Metro-Detroit area since the first part of 2003. Kevin Thompson, who started working as a locksmith in 1998, learning the trade, along with the broad area of other many facets that are accompanied with the locksmith industry(believe me, there are many, one of which is safe cracking). In 2006 Kevin created American Locksmith & Security, INC., and worked as a sub-contractor for many different locksmith companies. In June of 2007, Kevin bought Atlas Locksmith from the original owner, registering it under his own corporation. After the purchase of Atlas, Kevin assumed the name “American Atlas Locksmith” with the State of Michigan, combining Atlas locksmith with American Locksmith & Security making them one in the same. In the summer of 2009, American Atlas Locksmith was looking to expand and setup a base operation. A storefront was found on the far east side of the Metro-Detroit area, located in historic downtown New Baltimore, Michigan. American Atlas Locksmith was no longer just a mobile service any longer. On October 1st, 2009, American Atlas Locksmith opened it’s first physical location, opening the doors for the first time to the public, offering an alternate to our customers who may need help but cannot afford our service call charge. Benny, a United States Marine Veteran, who attended high school with Kevin, was hired to run the shop counter sales. With 15 years of commercial door, as well as commercial door installation, Benny is putting his knowledge to work for you from behind the counter. In 2012 Greg joined the team, completing our entire knowledge base, and adding to the full spectrum of all facets of the industry. With a lifetime of rekeying locks, and knowledge in all areas of the construction industry, as well as an accomplished locksmith, he completed our team. We are the ONLY locksmiths nearby that get it done right the first time, every time, just ask our customers!
